The 47th Miss Intercontinental pageant is not only composed of beautiful ladies but also of interesting stories. In a dramatic twist of events, Miss Albania Arvanita Peci and Miss Kosovo Arjanita Peci have just revealed that they are long lost twins. A war broke out in 1998, the year when the twins were born and their family had to make painful decisions to escape Kosovo.

Arjanita, representing Kosovo explained in her Miss Intercontinental introduction, “I was born 1998 in Kosovo. In this year my family have to leave our country because of the war. At that time I was only one month old. It was a hard year for my family because we had to start from zero. Today we are living in Germany.”

Arjanita now works as a judicial clerk, helping others to fight for their rights. The beauty queen said she enjoys dancing and discovering new cultures all over the world. Arjanita said that she's “happy and proud” to compete in the Miss Intercontinental, especially because her twin sister is part of it.

Arjanita said, “It’s very special for me because my twin sister will also take part at Miss Intercontinental. She is Miss Intercontinental Albania.”

Meanwhile, the other twin Miss Albania Arvanita is now a banker. Just like her twin sister, the 20-year-old loves to dance and travel. Arvanita explained that it was their brother who enlisted her and Arjanita to join Miss Election, which eventually led them to Miss Intercontinental.

Arvanita too is excited for their “special” journey in the Miss Intercontinental pageant.

“Moreover it is very special for me because my twin sister is also one of the contestants in Manila. She will represent Kosovo. So I am really happy and excited to meet all the beautiful girls and to make such an amazing experience in my life,” the Albanian beauty queen said.

On their Instagram pages, the twin sisters post photos of them enjoying some time together. The two can be seen sharing their bathroom selfies and posing for photoshoots. Arvanita stated, “I love my twin.”

The coronation night for the 2019 Miss Intercontinental pageant will be held on January 26 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

The Philippines is being represented by Karen Gallman, a 20-year-old beauty queen from Bohol.
