'Bagyong Usman' PAGASA weather update December 26, 2018

MANILA, Philippines – 'Bagyong Usman', the country's 21st tropical cyclone for 2018, has slightly intensified as it continues to move west-northwestward, state weather bureau PAGASA said in a bulletin issued at 11:00 am on Wednesday, December 26.

Tropical depression 'Usman' has no direct effect on any part of the country at the moment.

At 10:00 am today, the center of Tropical Depression "Usman" was estimated based on all available data at 775 km East of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur (09.5 °N, 133.3 °E).

'Usman' has maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 65 km/h. It is moving West Northwest at 15 km/h.

"Moderate to heavy rains, which may trigger floodings and landslides, is expected over Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, Surigao del Norte and Dinagat Islands tomorrow, December 27," PAGASA said.

Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 1 may be raised over the provinces in Eastern Visayas and northern Caraga tonight or tomorrow morning (December 27). Possible disruption in maritime travel should be expected in these areas.

Usman could make landfall in Eastern Samar on Friday, December 28.

PAGASA also advised fisherfolks and those with small seacrafts not to venture out over the eastern seaboards of Eastern Samar, Dinagat Islands and Surigao Provinces due to rough seas.
