'Bagyong Rosita' makes landfall in Dinapigue, Isabela - PAGASA weather update October 30, 2018

MANILA, Philippines – 'Bagyong Rosita' (international name: Yutu) made landfall in Dinapigue, Isabela, at 4 a.m. on Tuesday, October 30, state weather bureau PAGASA announced.

At 4:00 am today, the eye of Typhoon 'Rosita' was located based on Daet radar and other available data in the vicinity of Dinapigue, Isabela (16.7 °N, 122.5 °E).

Typhoon 'Rosita' has maximum sustained winds of 150 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 210 km/h. It is moving West at 20 km/h.

  • 24 Hour(Tomorrow morning): 205 km West Southwest of Sinait, Ilocos Sur(16.9°N, 118.6°E)
  • 48 Hour(Thursday morning):425 km West of Laoag City, Ilocos Norte (OUTSIDE PAR)(18.5°N, 116.6°E)
  • 72 Hour(Friday morning): 625 km West of Basco, Batanes (OUTSIDE PAR)(20.1°N, 116.0°E)
  • 96 Hour(Saturday morning):615 km West of Basco, Batanes (OUTSIDE PAR)(21.1°N, 116.1°E)

Tropical cyclone warning Signal No. 3 (Winds of 121 -170 kph is expected in at least 18 hrs) was raised in ten areas: Isabela, Quirino, Northern Aurora, Nueva Vizcaya, Ifugao, Benguet, La Union, Ilocos Sur, Mountain Province and Pangasinan.

Cagayan, Ilocos Norte, Apayao, Abra, Kalinga, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, Northern Quezon including Polillo Island, Southern Aurora, Zambales, Pampanga and Bulacan were placed under Signal No. 2 (61-120kph expected in 24 hrs).

Meanwwhile, PAGASA raised Signal No. 1 (30-60kph expected in 36 hrs) Batanes, Babuyan group of Islands, Rizal, Metro Manila, Laguna, Batangas, Bataan and Cavite.

Note that Signal No. 1 over Camarines Norte and Southern Quezon has been lifted.

Stormy weather over the areas under Signal No. 3 and 2 is expected. Travel by land is risky over these areas.

Expect moderate to heavy rains directly associated with the Typhoon over Northern and Central Luzon. Residents in these areas, especially those living near river channels, in low-lying areas and mountainous areas, are advised to take appropriate actions against possible flooding and landslides, coordinate with the local disaster risk reduction and management offices.
Storm surge of up to 3 meters is possible over the coastal areas of Isabela, Cagayan, Aurora, Ilocos Sur, Ilocos Norte, La Union and Pangasinan.

Fisherfolks and those with small seacrafts are advised not to venture out over the seaboards of areas with TCWS and the eastern and western seaboards of Southern Luzon.
