PAGASA: 'Bagyong Maymay' enters PAR

MANILA, Philippines – Typhoon Jebi has entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) and was named "Maymay," state weather bureau PAGASA announced in a weather bulletin released at 5:00pm on Sunday, September 2, 2018.

Typhoon Maymay entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) at 2:00 pm Sunday.

PAGASA said 'Bagyong Maymay' poses no direct threat in any part of the country and no significant enhancement of the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) is expected during the alert period.

At 3:00 pm today, the eye of Typhoon 'Maymay' was estimated based on all available data at 1,375 km East Northeast of Basco, Batanes (23.9°N, 134.8°E).

'Maymay' has maximum winds of up to 190 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 235 km/h. It is forecast to move Northwest at 25 km/h.

The typhoon is expected to exit PAR within the next 12 hours or tomorrow early morning (September 3).
