LIST: Opposition reveals 18 possible names of senatorial bets for May 2019 elections

The Liberal Party already came up with its list of 18 possible senatorial bets for the 2019 elections. Several sources have confirmed that a list is already being filled as the opposition’s bloc on Monday, September 10.

The initial names floated were re-electionist Senator Paolo Benigno Aquino IV, human rights lawyer Jose Manuel Diokno, former Quezon Rep. Erin Tañada, Magdalo partylist Rep. Gary Alejano, actress Agot Isidro, and former Akbayan partylist Rep. Barry Gutierrez.

New names are now being added to the list which includes actor Dingdong Dantes, musician Jim Paredes and former Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno, among others.

Only 12 will make it to the cut and will be presented to Vice President Leni Robredo, the leader of the opposition. The opposition bloc is now composed of the Liberal Party, Akbayan, Magdalo, and the organization Tindig Pilipinas.

Senator Francis Pangilinan, president of the Liberal Party confirmed that they are "still in talks” with several personalities.

"I can confirm that our list has more than enough names to fill a slate; we have no shortage of people who are qualified and competent, who have sterling track records, and who can help change the trajectory of the country," Pangilinan said.
