'Bagyong Paeng' enters PAR – PAGASA weather update

MANILA, Philippines – The Typhoon with international name "Trami" has entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) and was named 'Paeng', state weather bureau PAGASA announced in its 5:00 pm update on Sunday, September 23.

At 4:00 pm today, the eye of Typhoon 'Paeng' was located based on all available data at 1,290 km East of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan (17.4°N, 133.9°E).

'Bagyong Paeng' has maximum sustained winds of up to 125 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 155 km/h. It is moving West at 20 km/h.

PAGASA said the current weather system has no direct effect yet in any part of the country.


'Paeng' may affect extreme Northern Luzon (Batanes - Babuyan Group of Islands) around Friday (September 28). The weather central advised of possible hoisting of Tropical Cyclone Warning Signals by Thursday or Friday.

Meanwhile, no significant enhancement of the Southwest Monsoon is expected during the outlook period.

Paeng is the country's 16th tropical cyclone for 2018. In average, 20 cyclones enters PAR per year.
