OFW uses ‘magic trick’ to avoid tearful goodbye to family at airport

When it comes to bidding goodbye to their family at the airport, many overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) face the challenge of trying to look tough and not cry so that the parting would be less stressful and heartbreaking for all parties concerned.

But that is easier said than done, of course.

More often than not, OFWs and their families have to part at the airport with tears in their eyes, knowing that they won’t be together for the next couple of years. The internet is a useful tool to connect everyone these days, but the online connection is just not the same as having your loved ones beside you, physically.

One OFW recently went viral for the clever way he used the viral ‘magic trick’ to his advantage, so he could bid goodbye to his family without the usual tears.

Nafson Tolentino needs to go back to Canada. At the airport, he used the ‘vanishing’ trick that people have used in viral videos to trick their pets. While this won’t be able to trick his wife and the adults sending him off, at least it would make his son think he really did vanish behind the blanket.

If you’re curious as to how the technique works, it’s actually quite easy. It’s not really a ‘real’ magic trick but something that could probably fool your pets as well as very young kids.

First, he positioned himself close to car and checked for his exit point. Then, he bid his wife and son goodbye, kissing them both before unfolding the blanket and preparing to execute the ‘magic’ trick.

To show his son how it works, Nafson raised the blanket then brought it down to reveal himself. Afterwards, he raised the blanket again before running as fast as he could, hiding behind the car while letting the blanket fall.

The kid looked rather surprised that his dad was gone; he tried to find dad but mom was quick to guide him away. The trick was a success.

Watch how he did it here:
