Marquez said, “Pero Miss Universe per se, sana ibigay na lang sa natural-born women. And then kasi, there is Miss International Queen, it’s a prestigious pageant also.”

The Miss International Queen is an international beauty pageant specifically for trans women.

She, however, clarified that the decision still boils down to Miss Universe Organization. Marquez said, “It’s tradition for Miss Universe. Pero kung ia-allow naman ng Miss Universe Organization, then we should accept it also, walang problema.”

Marquez added that she has no issues against the LGBT and asked everyone to respect her decision. She said, “ I have nothing against transgenders.”

Meanwhile, 2015 Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach also shared her opinion and thoughts on the matter. A strong support of gay pride, Wurtzbach said that there's nothing wrong with trans women joining Miss Universe. She said, “It is allowed. Trans women can compete and can win. It's not said that only natural-born women can join Miss Universe.”

Even our very own bet to this year's Miss Universe, Catriona Gray also shared the same view with Wurtzbach saying that it's okay to allow trans women to join.
