UP gives updates on UPCAT 2018 results release

MANILA, Philippines - The University of the Philippines (UP) through its Office of Admissions has released updates to address clamor of examinees on the much-awaited release of College Admission Test (UPCAT) 2018 results.

UP gives updates on UPCAT results release

In a Facebook post on Thursday, April 5, UP said "From the very start we officially announced to UPCAT applicants, during the exam, in our website, in our Facebook UPCAT Official posts, and in the UPCAT application portal, that the results will be released sometime March - April."

NOTE: Before the long Holy Week break, reports of Mar 31 or 1st week of April release circulated online.

UP emphasized that giving a range of dates for the release of results is a normal practice.

"Having a range of dates for release of results is the usual practice of schools like UP that have a very large number of applicants, and require strict validation of results with a different test every year."

The institution added that UPCAT 2018 timeline is in consideration with applicants' concerns regarding submission of documents, the implementation of Grade 12 (K-12) and revision of program curricula, and UP's August school opening.

It also noted concerns of some parents and applicants related to the practice of other schools of requiring reservation fees before enrollment, but said UP does "not have the authority to change the policies of other universities."

For AY 2018-2019, tuition for undergraduate degree programs is free in UP in accordance with the provisions of the Free Tuition Act of 2017.
