Magnitude 6.3 earthquake shakes Metro Manila, Luzon areas on August 11, 2017

MANILA, Philippines - (UPDATED) The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported a magnitude 6.3 earthquake that shook parts of Metro Manila and Luzon on Friday afternoon, August 11, 2017.

The exact time of occurrence was recorded at 1:28:00 p.m. with epicenter at 14.00°N, 120.50°E - 016 km S 57° W of Nasugbu, Batangas.

The earthquake that occurred has a tectonic origin with 160 km depth of focus.

The strong quake was felt at Intensity IV in Calapan, Mindoro; Subic, Zambales; Rosario, Cavite; Manila City; Sablayan and Occidental Mindoro.

Intensity III was recorded in Pateros City; Quezon City; Makati City; Malolos, Bulacan; ,Cainta, Rizal and Calamba, Laguna.

Intensity II was felt in Magalang, Pampanga; Tanauan City, Batangas and Intensity I in Talisay, Batangas.

Meanwhile, Instrumental Intensities are as follows:

Intensity III - Calumnpit, San Ildefonso, Bulacan; Tagaytay City
Intenisty II - Lucban, Quezon

Followers of The Summit Express said they felt the earthquake in Metro Manila, Laguna, Bulacan, Cavite, Pangasinan, Pampanga, Nueva Ecija, Bataan, and Zambales.

Phivolcs reported no damage resulting from the quake, but said in its bulletin that aftershocks were expected.
