Hospital staff earns praise after helping family of poor patient settle hospital bill

In a viral post by Aiza Montalban, she narrated how the hospital staff named Rhona Laurel Arcillas went out of her way just to assist her sick grandmother.

Arcillas, who works at registration of the said hospital, initially assisted them in her grandmother’s check-up. During the check-up, the doctor instructed Montalban’s grandmother to undergo laboratory tests which cost P1,836. Unfortunately, they only brought P1,500 which was clearly not enough to cover all expenses as they already paid P500 as consultation fee of the doctor and would need transportation fare on their way back to San Pablo City in Laguna.

Seeing Montalban and her grandmother, Arcillas approached them and asked how their check-up was. After learning that they didn’t have enough money to pay for the medical fees, the kindhearted hospital staff suddenly gave them P1,000.

Because of Arcillas’ random act of kindness, Montalban and her grandmother couldn’t help but be moved by her action.

Arcillas quickly gained online fame after Montalban shared the story on Facebook.

Speaking to Pep.ph, Arcillas explained why she chose to help Montalban’s grandmother she identified as Lola Zanaida.
