'Bagyong Auring' makes landfall over Siargao Island

MANILA, Philippines - The tropical depression 'Auring' has made landfall over Siargao Island in Surigao del Norte, the weather central announced in its 5:00 p.m. bulletin on Sunday, January 8.

'Bagyong Auring' makes landfall over Siargao Island

At 4:00 p.m. today, the center of 'Bagyong Auring' was estimated based on all available data at in the vicinity of Cagdianao, Dinagat Islands(09.9°N, 125.7°E).

'Auring' has maximum winds of up to 55 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 70 kph. It is forecast to move Northwest at 9 kph.

  • 96 Hour(Thursday afternoon):135 km West Northwest of Pagasa Island, Palawan (OUTSIDE PAR)(11.3°N, 112.9°E)
  • 120 Hour(Friday afternoon):560 km West of Pagasa Island, Palawan (OUTSIDE PAR)(11.0°N, 109.0°E)


Tropical cyclone warning Signal No. 1 (30-60 kph Expected in 36 hours) is up over the areas of Cuyo Island (Luzon); Bohol, Siquijor, Negros Provinces, Southern Leyte, Cebu, Guimaras, Southern part of Iloilo and Southern part of Antique (Visayas); and Agusan del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Surigao del Norte including Siargao Island, Dinagat Province, Misamis Oriental, and Camiguin (Mindanao).

The estimated rainfall amount is from moderate to heavy within 300 km diameter of the Tropical Depression.

Residents of areas under Signal No. 1 and over the rest of Eastern and Central Visayas are alerted against possible flash floods and landslides.

Fisherfolks and those with small seacrafts are advised not to venture out over the eastern seaboard of Visayas and of Mindanao.

Tropical Cyclone Warning Signals elsewhere are now lifted.
