Paul Walker Fast and Furious star died at 40

"Sadly, I must confirm that Paul did pass away this afternoon in a car accident," Ame Van Iden, Walker's publicist said.

"The early news reports that Paul Walker has died. I was just with him no more than 2 or 3 hours ago. Talking cars, he was so happy seeing all his friends get together to look at the cars. I hope it wasn't him in the wreck, but if it was, he... would have passed doing something he loved, which is driving cars. The world lost an angel in Paul. He dedicated so much of his life to helping disadvantaged kids and people who are in need, with his charity recently assisting those in the tornadoes in the Midwest and the trauma in the Philippines. Just today we had hundreds of toys donated for kids, all apart of Paul's charity. If this sad news indeed true I'm going to do whatever I can to keep Paul's goals for the charity alive.", Bill Townsend, Paul's friend on his Facebook post said.

Walker who turns 40 last September 12 was a passenger in a friend's car and was attending a charity event when the accident happened. It was confirmed by the authority that two people were killed in that accident.

Before the actor died, he leads a campaign for Reach Out Worldwide (ROWW) to help Yolanda victims for direct aid. On his official Facebook account, he said that  Reach Out Worldwide joined forces with Waves for Water to get 30,000 people access to clean water and provided medical assistance few days after killer typhoon strucked the Central Philippines.

In a Youtube post last November 22, Paul Walker joined by the cast of Fast and Furious 7 on set to reach out ROWW efforts for the donation campaign to help Philippines.

According to Walker, who spoke on behalf of the group, they understand the dire circumstances Filipinos in the affected areas are currently experiencing.

“The needs are gonna be extensive for a long period of time. So basically, we are reaching out to the fans. We love Manila -- we were there last year, they received us with open arms. We love the Philippines,” Walker said.

Malacañang on Sunday thru Presidential Communications Operations Office Secretary Herminio Coloma appreciates Walker's fund-raising activities for the typhoon survivors in the country.

“We mourn the death of actor Paul Walker while in California where he raised funds for Filipinos who suffered much in the aftermath of typhoon Yolanda's onslaught.”, Coloma said.

In 2001,Walker's career hit overdrive when he landed a leading role alongside up-and-comer Vin Diesel in The Fast and the Furious. A film that paid homage to road films of the 1970s, The Fast and the Furious brought Walker to new heights of fame on the way to box-office receipts of more than $200 million.
