PAGASA: Typhoon 'Labuyo' intensifies as it exits PAR

Manila, Philippines- In the final bulletin issued by PAGASA for Typhoon "‪#‎LabuyoPH‬" on Monday, 10:30PM August 12, 2013, it says that “LABUYO” has intensified further as it exits PAR.

As of 10:00 PM yesterday, the eye of Typhoon “LABUYO” was located based on all available data at 290 km West of Laoag City or 350 km Northwest of Baguio City. (18.3°N, 117.5°E).

Typhoon Labuyo has maximum sustained winds of 160 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 195 kph.It will move West Northwest at 24 kph.

Typhoon “LABUYO” is expected to be at 570 km Northwest of Baguio City or 510 km West of Laoag City by Tuesday morning or outside the PAR.

PAGASA said that All Public Storm Warning Signals are now lifted.

However, typhoon “Labuyo” enhances the Southwest Monsoon which brings moderate to occasionally heavy rains over the Western section of Southern Luzon and Visayas.

Fishermen especially those using small seacrafts are advised not to venture out into the northern seaboard of Northern Luzon, seaboards of Southern Luzon and western seaboard of Visayas due to big waves generated by Typhoon “Labuyo”.

Typhoon Utor (local name: Labuyo), described as the strongest globally this year, slammed ashore in mountainous eastern Aurora province.

According to reports, the storm left at least two people dead and 44 missing.

Utor, the Marshellese word for a squall line, was the 12th of about 20 storms and typhoons expected to lash the Philippines this year
