MANILA, Philippines - (Updated Feb. 14) Several local government units declared suspension of classes for Wednesday, February 14, 2018, due to inclement weather brought by Tropical Depression "Basyang" (international name "Sanba").

In a bulletin issued at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, "Bagyong Basyang" has slowed down slightly and is about to make landfall in the southern tip of Cebu.

Tropical cyclone warning signal (TCWS) No. 1 (30-60kph expected in 36 hrs) was raised over the areas of Palawan including Calamian and Cuyo groups of islands, Aklan, Capiz, Antique, Iloilo, Guimaras, Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental, Siquijor, Bohol, Cebu, Biliran, Leyte, and Southern Leyte, Camiguin, Misamis Oriental, Misamis Occidental, and northern section of Zamboanga del Norte.

WEATHER BULLETIN

At 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, the center of Tropical Depression "Basyang" was estimated based on all available data at 45 km East Northeast of Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental (09.4 °N, 123.7 °E).

"Basyang" has maximum sustained winds of 45 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 65 kph. It is forecast to move West at 26 kph.

  • 24 Hour(Tomorrow afternoon): 110 km Southwest of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan(9.0°N, 118.1°E)
  • 48 Hour(Thursday afternoon):90 km South of Pagasa Island, Palawan (OUTSIDE PAR)(10.2°N, 114.1°E)
  • 72 Hour(Friday afternoon): 310 km West of Pagasa Island, Palawan (OUTSIDE PAR)(11.1°N, 111.3°E)

Scattered to widespread moderate to heavy rains will prevail in the next 24 hours over Palawan and Visayas. Meanwhile, scattered light to moderate with at times heavy rains is expected over Bicol Region, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Caraga, and the provinces of Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi.
