'The Revenger Squad' is now the highest-grossing Filipino film of all time

MANILA, Philippines - The Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2017 entry "Gandarappiddo: The Revenger Squad" is now the highest grossing Filipino film of all time, Star Cinema officially announced on Thursday, January 18.

"The Revenger Squad" has earned 571 million nationwide after four weeks.


The film took the previous spot of another Vice Ganda-led film "Super Parental Guardians," which was shown in theaters in 2016.

The comedian expressed his gratitude to the whole team for putting in their effort for the film.

“Nakikita ng Diyos kung gaano kaganda ang intensiyon natin kaya niya tayo na-bless,” he said. “At hindi din tayo na-bless lang, dahil pinagtrabahuhan natin ‘to.”


Meanwhile, Miss Universe 2017 Pia Wurtzbach said she is grateful for the outcome of her first movie.

“I can’t stop saying thank you because I’m really, really grateful,” she said in an interview.

"Gandarrappido: The Revenger Squad" is a comedy flick about a mishmash group of superheroes out to protect the world. Vice Ganda plays a gay superhero who lives a normal life away from bashing villains after losing his memory. He was forced to remember his past, however, after a boy he cares for deeply, Chino (Daniel Padilla), a speedster hero, finds himself in danger.
