'Ang Probinsyano' beats 'Mulawin vs. Ravena' in Kantar, AGB TV Ratings

MANILA, Philippines - GMA Network's "Mulawin vs. Ravena," the sequel of 2004 fantasy series "Mulawin" premiered on Monday, May 22 and pitted against ABS-CBN's action-drama series "FPJ's Ang Probinsyano." But, how did the pilot episode of the Kapuso show and the most-awaited wedding in 'Probinsyano' fare in Kantar Media and AGB Nielsen TV ratings?

In a report by AGB Nielsen, "Mulawin vs. Ravena" topbilled by Dennis Trillo (Gabriel) and Heart Evangelista (Alwina) got an AGB NUTAM (Nationwide Urban Television Audience Measurement) rating of 12.2%. Coco Martin's "Ang Probinsyano" won the primetime battle, up by 0.5 point or 12.7% as compared to the rival show.

Meanwhile, "Probinsyano" easily edged out "Mulawin vs. Ravena" after the show garnered 41.1% on Monday, or nearly double the 22.5 percent of its rival show, based on Kantar Media's measurement.

The thrilling scenes after the wedding of Coco (Cardo) and Yassi Pressman (Alyanna) drew even more viewers. Arjo Atayde (Joaquin) kidnapped Alyanna to seek revenge against Cardo by putting her life in danger. But Cardo will do everything to save his wife’s life and make his mortal enemy pay for all the sins he committed.


Kantar Media report revealed that the latest rating is slightly higher than the average the cop drama received for the whole of last year, which sat at a flat 40%--an indication of its enduring popularity with Filipinos viewers.

Kantar Media uses a nationwide panel size of 2,610 urban and rural homes that represent 100% of the total Philippine TV viewing population, while AGB Nielsen reportedly has 2,000 homes based in urban areas that represent only 57% of the Philippine TV viewing population.
