Work from home Pinoys earn P20k to P40k monthly

While many Pinoys spend their day on social media, a number of Filipinos have taken the opportunity to use the Internet in order to earn income. Telecommuting, also known as working from home, is becoming more popular among employers these days. More and more workers prefer working remotely in order to do away with stress, heavy traffic and long commutes. As a result, they get to spend more quality time with their families.

In a report by ABS-CBN News, telecommuter Amber Lupena earns P20,000 to P22,000 a month as social media manager and marketer for two US-based clients. She gets to earn income at the comfort of her home ensuring the needs of her family are met.

Bheng Celon, who works for an Australian company for 7 years now says she makes about $3 to $10 per hour from her job as a virtual assistant.

“Dream job ko makapagtrabaho sa bahay na nakapagprovide ako sa mga anak ko and at the same time sobrang mabait employer ko,” Celon told ABS-CBN News.

Her Australian employer Dr. Bryan West of Fortress Learning said he prefers Filipino workers as they are highly skilled and loyal.

According to the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), work from home jobs are in demand these days. In fact, about 2.5 million telecommuting jobs will be available in the next 6 years. But unlike regular employees, telecommuters don’t receive benefits like SSS, Philhealth and Pag-ibig.

Currently, there’s a pending bill in the Congress aiming to provide the benefits of telecommuters.

“May nakabinbin na panukala ngayon sa Kongreso para maibigay sa kanila yung tunay na working benefits like yung SSS atbp. Kapag naipasa na yung panukala mag-aaply na both sa foreign employers at domestic employers,” DOLE Usec. Bernard Olalia told ABS-CBN News.

Working from home allows you to cut the cost for transportation, clothing and food expenses. However, you will need to shell out money for electricity, Internet connection, equipment and other communication devices.

Telecommuting may also make you miss opportunities of personal interaction with other people.
