PNP launches 'Spot Checking' campaign, oughts to protect EDSA bus commuters

MANILA, Philippines – With nearly two months in his post, PNP Chief Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa has already recorded a handful of achievements. One of these is the war against illegal drugs that he and President Rodrigo Duterte have declared against the big and small time peddlers last June.

Hundreds of thousands of drug users and pushers have already yielded to the Police since "Oplan Tokhang" or PNP's amnesty-like program for the drug-related offenders has been implemented that resulted to massive decrease of crime rate nationwide. Recently, Dela Rosa in coordination with his PNP staff and officials, have launched another spectacular project that is intended to protect the commuters.

Hundreds of police based in Metro Manila have now been tasked to randomly board on public buses which are plying from Caloocan to Pasay via EDSA. An anonymous netizen captured a pair of police officers who were on the bus and conducting a random inspection. When the cops were asked on what they were doing, they explained that they were deployed to protect the commuters from potential holduppers and snatchers who are preying on commuters particularly along EDSA.

This sort of anti holdup and highway-robbery campaign was dubbed as "PNP Spot Checking." A huge sigh of relief for thousands of bus travelers in Metro Manila especially for those who are working in graveyard hours.

There are total of 80 shifts a day and the cops are assigned to randomly get in the bus 24/7 to ensure the passengers' safety.

There were several reports of bus robbery - holdup reported in the past. Few suspects were arrested if not killed because of the heroic acts of some off-duty policemen who apparently were co-passengers. This only proves the effectivity and purpose of the said campaign.

Now that Spot Checking is up and running, commuting in the metro is now more fun and relaxing.
