#WalangPasok: Schools in Manila suspend classes, work for Duterte’s inauguration (June 30)

MANILA, Philippines - Some of the schools near the Malacañang Palace have announced class and work suspension for Thursday, June 30 due to President-elect Rodrigo Duterte's inauguration.

On its social media accounts, Centro Escolar University (CEU)-Manila, San Beda College, University of the East (UE)-Manila and National University suspend classes and work due to the expected heavy volume of vehicles and audiences near the vicinity of the Palace.





Palace: No special holiday in Duterte’s inauguration

Despite the inauguration of the 16th president of the country, Presidential Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma, Jr. announced on Wednesday morning that June 30 is a regular working day.

This is contrary to the previous administration's inauguration when President Gloria Macapagal – Arroyo signed a proclamation to declare a special non-working holiday on June 30, 2010 for President Benigno Aquino III's official entry to the Palace.

Duterte will replace Aquino at 12:00 noon this Thursday. The outgoing president will then straight to his home at Times Street in Quezon City.
