Ex-PNP Chief Purisima gets arrested

MANILA, Philippines – The most controversial PNP officer has already been captured for being wanted for graft and corruption administrative charges. Ex-PNP Chief Alan Purisima was arrested by his fellow cops at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 in Paranaque City late Friday afternoon, May 20, 2016.

Purisima along with nine more police officers were all suspended in June last year for their alleged involvement in a Php100-million questionable firearms licenses deal with Werfast Documentation Agency Inc., a private courier service.

A year before that, General Purisima was heavily-criticized by the netizens and fellow PNP officers over his luxurious and mansion-like house in Nueva Ecija. Altough, he was not sanctioned over his alleged hidden and extravagant property.

Few months after his suspension, the sacked PNP official was involved once again in a larger scandal. Purisima, though prohibited from any government duties due to his suspension, was allegedly seen giving orders to PNP and AFP staff at Mamasapano Maguindanao where 44 Special Action Forces (SAF) were murdered by BIFF, MILF and cohorts of international terrorist Sulkifli “Marwan” Abdhir.

General Purisima however defended himself that he was advised to supervise the ground troops. He also pointed out that the other reason why he was present during the bloody clash is to give time-to-time updates to President Noynoy Aquino which placed him and Pnoy in even bigger trouble.

The Sandiganbayan has released the warrant of arrest couple of days ago. Personnel from the PNP – Criminal Investigation and Detection Group served the warrant to Purisima upon his arrival from Butuan City at NAIA Terminal 3. CIDG Director Victor Deone informed the media that they will bring the Ex-PNP Chief straight to Sandiganbayan

So far, Presumptive President Rodrigo “Rody” Duterte is not being linked to Purisima’s apprehension with regards to his plan of sacking all corrupt government officials.
