EgyptAir Flight 804 from Paris to Cairo disappears from radar

An EgyptAir flight from Paris to Cairo has disappeared from radar, the airline said today, May 19.

"An informed source at EGYPTAIR stated that Flight no MS804,which departed Paris at 23:09 (CEST),heading to Cairo has disappeared from radar," the tweet read.

There were 59 passengers on board and 10 crew members, according to the airline company.

The plane A320 was flying at 37,000 feet when it disappeared shortly after entering Egyptian airspace with 10 miles.


The company said it has contacted the concerned authorities and bodies and inspection is underway through the rescue teams.

The airline said it would provide more details as they become available.

EgyptAir is the flag carrier airline of Egypt and has operations in more than 75 destinations in the Middle East, Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Americas.

In March this year, EgyptAir Flight 181, operated by Airbus A320-232 was hijacked while on a flight from Alexandria to Cairo. The aircraft, with 81 passengers on board, landed at Larnaca International Airport, Cyprus, where all hostages were released and the hijacker surrendered to authorities.
