In the landmark ruling released on Tuesday, March 9, the SC has decided to reverse the decision of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to disqualify Poe as presidential candidate. Among the justices who voted in favor of Poe were Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno, Benjamin Caguioa, Francis Jardeleza, Marvic Leonen, Jose Mendoza, Jose Perez, Lucas Bersamin, Diosdado Peralta and Presbitero Velasco Jr.

In a video posted on his Facebook account, Atty. Bruce V. Rivera raised several points as to why he disagrees with the SC’s decision. The video has quickly gone viral amassing more than 17,000 shares and over 16,000 likes as of press time.

In the caption of the video, he wrote: “As a lawyer, I can criticize the Supreme Court without being disrespectful. And this is how I feel at this moment. Sorry po, I am emotional but I am just hurt. Just hurt.”

(If we will allow someone to lead us, who at some point in her life gave up being a Filipino, that’s what I can’t accept. I have ill feelings towards the Supreme Court because they trashed the concept of being a Filipino, they made “being and remaining a Filipino because you love the Philippines” useless. )

Rivera clarified in his video that he is not against Filipinos who opt to become citizens of other countries particularly those looking for greener pastures.

(We need a president who is not only qualified for his accomplishments but also qualified for his heart as a Filipino.)
