LRT, MRT and PNR schedule for Holy Week 2016 released

MANILA, Philippines - The Light Rail Transit (LRT), Metro Rail Transit (MRT) and Philippine National Railways (PNR) schedule for Holy Week 2016 has been released online.

LRT 1 and 2 Holy Week 2016 Advisory

Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) Spokesperson Hernando Cabrera announced on Twitter that the last train schedule for LRT 2 is 8:00 p.m. from Santolan and from Recto 8:30 p.m. on March 23. There will be no train operations from March 24 (Maundy Thursday) to March 27 (Easter Sunday).


Due to the observation of Holy Week and annual maintenance, LRT 1 also announced operation suspension from March 24-27 (Maundy Thursday to Easter Sunday). The regular service will resume on Monday, March 28 at 5:00 a.m.


The LRT1 is the oldest mass transit system in Southeast Asia that runs from Baclaran in Parañaque City to Roosevelt Avenue in Quezon City. Meanwhile, LRT 2 stretches from Recto in Manila to Santolan in Pasig City.

MRT Holy Week 2016 Advisory

Meanwhile, DOTC-MRT3 also advised that there will be no MRT operations/revenue service on March 24-27. Regular operations will resume on March 28 from 4:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

On March 23 (Wednesday), there will be full operations from 4:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

MRT runs along EDSA from Taft Avenue in Pasay City to North Avenue in Quezon City.

PNR Advisory

PNR advised that there will be no operations from March 24-26 due to maintenance activities. The full operation will resume on Sunday, March 27.

On Wednesday, the last train from Tutuban will depart at 6:35 p.m. while the last trip from Alabang at 8:00 p.m.

Additional Updates: MMDA Advisories

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has lifted the number coding scheme in all cities and municipalities in Metro Manila from March 24-25. Number coding is lifted also for provincial buses only on March 23.


The Pasig River Ferry has no operation from March 24-26. Operations on March 21, Monday starts at 12 noon.


The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) road repair and reblocking for Holy Week is scheduled on March 23 at 10 p.m. to March 28 5 a.m.
