Through a Facebook post, netizen Juliet Suarez revealed how her brother was almost victimized by some immigration personnel including a bald man and two women in NAIA terminal 3. Her brother, whom Suarez didn’t identify, was apparently put on hold at the Immigration because his identity matched that of a killer from Bulacan.

Suarez’ brother insisted his innocence and pointed out that he’s from Sta. Rosa, Laguna and had been frequently leaving the country for Dubai. He also showed copies of his police and NBI clearance as proof.

Her brother immediately contacted Suarez, who happens to be a lawyer, to seek advice on how to handle the ordeal. Suarez then instructed her brother to let her talk to the personnel.

“Sabi ng kuya ko dun sa Kalbong taga Immigration kakausapin siya ng kapatid niyang abogado which is ako yun,” Suarez wrote on Facebook.

(My brother told the bald man from Immigration that his sibling, who’s a lawyer, will talk to him.)

Upon hearing this, the personnel told Suarez’ brother that there is no need for them to talk as the matter has been settled. Suarez’ brother also noticed that the immigration personnel were already moving away from him while he was talking on the phone.

Aside from Suarez, two other netizens claimed that they fell victim to the same scheme.

In 2015, several Filipino as well as foreign passengers fell prey to the controversial tanim bala scam in various Philippine airports. The victims had been allegedly framed for possession of live ammunition in their luggage so that airport personnel can extort money from them.
