'#ALDubEBTamangPanahon' to break Guinness World Records for most popular hashtag?

MANILA, Philippines - AlDub, a global phenomenon is taking center stage at the Philippine Arena today, October 24 for the Eat Bulaga's 'Tamang Panahon' concert event. Netizens are now asking if the hit 'Kalyeserye' stars Alden Richards and Maine 'Yaya Dub' Mendoza can make it to the Guinness World records for the most popular hashtag ever.

The '#ALDubEBTamangPanahon' is expected to break local Twitter record already set by '#ALDubEBforLOVE' a month ago with 25.6 million tweets. The popular loveteam will once again prove its dominance in the Twitter-verse.

As of 11:47am, '#ALDubEBTamangPanahon' garnered 14.2 million tweets and just few minutes it is up to 15.4 million.

With 35,000 tweets per minute, an estimate of 20M can be reached around 2:00pm, the AlDub Statistics account forecasted.


UPDATE: #ALDubEBTamangPanahon drew a total of 39,522,300 tweets in a 24-hour period to break record set for #WorldCup Finals between Brazil and Germany in 2014. The latter got 35.6 million total tweets.

In order to get Guinness World record, AlDub needs to topple already set for #WorldCup. The latter generated 35.6 million total tweets. During the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards, the hashtag #vote5sos, generated 78 million tweets (equal to total votes).


Though the figures the Filipinos are able to set on Twitterverse are impressive but it still far from the 78 millions records.

Aside from the Twitter record, Eat Bulaga announced that total ticket sales reached 14 million pesos.

Host Joey de Leon added that live audience at the Philippine Arena is 100 times of the Broadway Centrum in Quezon City. The largest indoor arena has a seating capacity of 55,000.

On its opening, Lola Nidora (Wally Bayola) announced that there will be no commercial break for the Eat Bulaga historic Saturday episode.
