PHIVOLCS: Magnitude 5.3 earthquake hits Quezon Province

MANILA, Philippines - A Magnitude 5.3 earthquake hits Quezon Province on Wednesday night, September 3, 2014, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) announced online.

Phivolcs said the quake which struck at 9:43 p.m. was located at 92 kilometers northeast of Jomalig, Quezon.

The quake, which was tectonic in origin, had a depth of 10 kilometers.

Intensity 3 was reported in Quezon City and also felt in many areas of Metro Manila.

No damage was reported but with aftershocks expected.
