Plan Ahead: Aquino declares 18 holidays in 2015 | Full List

Manila, Philippines - President Benigno Aquino III on Wednesday announced list of 18 holidays for the year 2015, including eight long weekends.

Four-day weekends in 2015 are on January 1-4, April 2-5, and December 24-27.

Three-day weekends are on May 1-3, June 12-14, August 21-23, August 29-31, and November 28-30.

Aside from 8 long weekends, 5-day weekend that spills into 2016 is also possible– December 30, 2015 to January 3, 2016 – if the Palace declares January 2, 2016 as an additional special day.

Aquino officially signed Proclamation No. 831 declaring regular holidays, special (non-working) days, and special holiday (for all schools) last week.

The following is a list of holidays for 2015, declared by virtue of Proclamation No. 831, s. 2014, unless otherwise specified:

A. Regular Holidays
  • New Year’s Day (January 1, Thursday)
  • Maundy Thursday (April 2)
  • Good Friday (April 3)
  • Araw ng Kagitingan (April 9, Thursday)
  • Labor Day (May 1, Friday)
  • Independence Day (June 12, Friday)
  • National Heroes Day (August 31, last Monday of August)
  • Bonifacio Day (November 30, Monday)
  • Christmas Day (December 25, Friday)
  • Rizal Day (December 30, Wednesday)

B. Special (Non-Working) Days
  • Chinese New Year (February 19,. Thursday)
  • Black Saturday (April 4)
  • Ninoy Aquino Day (August 21, Friday)
  • All Saints' Day (November 1, Sunday)
  • Additional special (non-working) days (January 2, Friday, and December 24, Thursday)
  • Last Day of the Year (December 31, Thursday)

C. Special Holiday (for all schools)
  • EDSA Revolution Anniversary ( February 25, Wednesday)
List of Holidays 2015 Philippines

On February 19, 2015, the Chinese nationals all over the world will celebrate Spring Festival, properly known as the Chinese New Year, which is one of the most revered and festive events celebrated not only in China but also in the Philippines by both Chinese-Filipinos and ordinary Filipinos as well.

In order to foster closer family ties and enable our countrymen to observe New Year and Christmas more meaningfully, January 2, 2015 (Friday) and December 24, 2015 (Thursday) were declared as additional special (non-working) days throughout the country.

The proclamations declaring national holidays for the observance of Eid’l Fitr and Eidul Adha will be issued after the approximate dates of the Islamic holidays have been determined in accordance with the Islamic calendar (Hijra) or the lunar calendar, or upon Islamic astronomical calculations, whichever is possible or convenient.

Meanwhile, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has released some guidelines known as pay rules for regular holidays and a special non-working days.
