Rain or Shine beats San Mig Coffee, forces Game 6 of PBA Finals

Rain or Shine stayed in the game against San Mig Coffee, gutting out an 81-74 win in Game 5 of the PLDT MyDSL PBA Philippine Cup finals on Sunday, February 23, 2014 at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum.

Jeff Chan sizzled for 24 points to lead the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters to a tough victory and forced Game 6.

“Ayoko lang talagang matalo,” said Chan. “Ayaw lang naming ibigay ‘tong larong ‘to.”

Rain or Shine (ROS) coach Yeng Guiao credited his players for the win, and promised that his team will keep fighting in the series.

The win tonight gave hope to ROS even as San Mig Coffee remained ahead in the series, 3-2.

Marc Pingris and James Yap each scored 18 points, with Pingris adding a game-high 15 rebounds. Alex Mallari has 11 points off the bench while Mark Barroca had 10 points and three steals.

Rain or Shine won despite Beau Belga being the only other player in double-figures aside from Chan with 10 points.
