Arvin 'Tado' Jimenez among 14 dead in Bontoc bus accident

Manila, Philippines - Comedian Arvin Jimenez known as Tado in showbiz is among the 14 people died when a tourist bus fell into a ravine in Bontoc, Mountain Province on Friday, February 7, 2014.

Reports from the police confirmed that Tado, 39 year-old is among the 45 passengers on board the Florida bus with the plate number TXT 872. The Florida bus fell off the 500-meter deep ravine at around 7:20 a.m., authorities said.

The tourist bus came from its terminal in Sampaloc, Manila.

Tado was on a trip to Mountain Province for a project titled "Life Begins at the Mountains".

Tado was dead on the spot according to Senior Inspector Benjamin Challoy.

“Mahaba ang buhok at ako mismo and naglagay sa kanya sa black bag. Base sa identification card, Arvin Jimenez ang pangalan niya,” Challoy said.

Tado on Thursday, February 6, even posted on the image-sharing site Instagram that he has a long trip going to Bontoc town in Mountain Province. He captioned the post "Long trip, as in trip trip".

Another post of the comedian on Instagram was captioned "North o South.... cemetery?" which shows someone is putting make-up on him the day before the tragic accident.

Authorities said that at least 29 others were injured and four (4) passengers were missing. The search and rescue operations for the other passengers are ongoing.

Meanwhile, the authority is still investigating the real cause of the accident. Preliminary report said that mechanical problem on the bus could be the cause of tragic incident.

When the sad news broke on Friday evening, the sympathy of netizens on Twitter pours to the comedian as "Tado", "Bontoc", "Strangebrew" and #RIPTado on trending list.

Aside from being a comedian, Tado Jimenez (March 24, 1974 – February 7, 2014) was a Filipino actor, radio personality, businessman and activist. Tado is primarily known for the offbeat television program Strangebrew and the U92 radio program The BrewRATs.

Tado rose to fame in 2001 when he co-hosted the reality comedy show "Strangebrew" on UNTV. He went on to appear in a number of ABS-CBN programs, including "Bituin" in 2002, and "OK Fine Whatever" and "Masayang Tanghali Bayan" in 2003.

Tado is a graduate of Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) with a degree in Psychology. 
Jimenez co-founded Dakila ("Noble"), an artists group aiming to instill modern-day heroism in everyday people, with poet Lourd de Veyra, rock guitarist for Parokya ni Edgar, Buwi Meneses and acclaimed actor, Ronnie Lazaro
