Bagyong 'Labuyo' threatens Luzon;Metro Manila under Signal No.1

Bagyong “LABUYO” continues to pose a threat over eastern luzon as moves closer to Aurora area. At 12:00 NN today (August 11, 2013), the eye of Typhoon “‪#‎LabuyoPH‬” was located based on all available data at 140 km Northeast of Virac Catanduanes (14.9°N, 125.2°E) with maximum sustained winds of 150 Kph and Gustiness of 185 Kph.

Typhoon “LABUYO” is expected to be in the vicinity of Casiguran, Aurora by tomorrow morning. By Tuesday morning, it will be at 270 km Northwest of Sinait, Ilocos Norte in the Northwest boundary to exit PAR, the weather central said.

In the press briefing today, PAGASA said that 'Labuyo' is the strongest tropical cyclone so far for this year.

Rains expected in Metro Manila starting this afternoon, PAGASA said.

Estimated rainfall amount is from 7.5 – 25 mm per hour (heavy - intense) within the 600 km diameter of Typhoon.

PAGASA advised residents in low lying and mountainous areas under signal #3,#2 & #1 to be alert against possible flashfloods and landslides. Likewise, those living in coastal areas under signal #3 and #2 are warned against storm surges. Sea travel is risky over the seaboards of Palawan and Visayas.

Bagyong “Labuyo” will enhance the Southwest Monsoon which will bring moderate to occasionally heavy rains over the Southern Luzon and Western Visayas.
