'By switching off our lights, let us shine out,'  Environment and Natural Resources Secretary Ramon J. P. Paje said.

Earth Hour is a global environmental campaign organized by World Wildlife Fund (WWF) that aim to call all of us to protect the planet.

It is about turning the inspiration of one hour into the actions of every hour. Be part of the solution!, WWF- Philippines said via Twitter.

'Earth Hour is certainly the most vivid and dramatic measure of our unity for a common cause. This mass switch-off means less consumption of electricity, slowing the buildup of climate change-inducing carbon dioxide in our atmosphere,' Paje said.

'EarthHour2013' became a buzzword on Twitter even hours before the switching-off event. The event topped Twitter Philippines trending topic today. Here are some of the best tweets showing concern for the planet.
