Boracay schedule of events on holy week, summer 2013

Boracay, the prime tourist destination in the Philippines this summer is filled with unique and enticing events that thousands of visitors should look for. Lined-up are the 4th KTA Philippines- Boracay Island 2013 (kite surfing), sand lantern contest and Boracay Dive Olympics - all of these are scheduled this Holy Week 2013.

Happening today is the 4th Kiteboard Tour Asia (KTA) kite surfing event.

"This years' event will follow suit of the previous years boasting freestyle, TT Racing and Race board racing and attracting some of not only the Top Asian riders but some of the top riders in the World, with extensive growth each year of the KTA event in Boracay this is gonna be a whopper event for all", KTA said on its official website.

The kite surfing event is hosted by Aqua Boracay by Yoo, newest luxury beachside residential development in Boracay.

Another exciting event at the World's Best Island of 2012 this summer is the Boracay Dive Olympics. It is one of the most popular events in the islands happening on Saturday, March 30 to April 1 (Monday).  Boracay Dive Olympics has two categories - for the amateurs and professionals.

During the competition, the crowds will get to see the divers in action. Similar to the Olympics, you will be amazed at the skills and artistry of the divers.

Sand Lantern Contest, Boracay most unique event is usually held in the pristine and fine sand of White Beach from March 30 until April 1. This event is full of fun and enjoyment.Creating sand lanterns is not easy since only dedicated individuals who have artistic inclinations can successfully make this. Many tourists and vacationers are expected to visit the island to participate on this activity.

Aside from the various happenings at the island that you're lured, don't forget to reflect this Holy Week.

April 20 -22: Boracay Beach Summer Cup; Cultural shown in various places
April 28 - May 1: Nestea Beach Volleyball
May 11 -13: Triathlon: Boracay Food Festival
May 11- 14: Beach Reggae Festival

If you're currently in Boracay or have plan to go there on this long holiday, you don't need to worry on the security. The government said that security measures are in place to ensure the safety of tourists who will be spending the Holy Week here.

"The government is prepared to secure tourists who have started to arrive in Boracay in time for the long holiday," said Tim Ticar, officer of DOT-Boracay said in an interview with philstar.com.

The Philippine government noted that Boracay is favored by local and foreign tourists especially during the Holy Week and summer. This favorite spot in PH is one of the main reasons why the country achieved back-to-back record growth for tourism on the first quater of 2013.
