Major banks advised schedule for Holy Week 2013

Major banks in the Philippines before Holy Week 2013 advised the banking hours or schedule for the Lenten Season. BDO Unibank, Metrobank, PS Bank and BPI are all closed starting March 28 (Maundy Thursday) to March 31, 2013 (Easter Sunday). As per advisory, operations will resume on the first day of April.

However, Metropolitan Bank & Trust Company (Metrobank) will  still open select branches across the country on March 28 (Maundy Thursday), March 30 (Black Saturday), and March 31 (Easter Sunday) to serve the banking public.

The bank assures the public that Metrobank ATMs will have sufficient funds during the Holy Week break. Alternative banking channels such as Metrobankdirect (http://www.metrobank.com.ph) are also available where customers can pay bills or transfer online. Metrobank accountholders can also pay for their purchases in department stores, supermarkets and other establishments through the BancNet point-of-sale (POS) terminals using their Metrobank ATM cards, Metrobank Prepaid Cards or Metrobank Debit Cards.

BDO advised that its ATMs are ready to handle the foreseen increase in withdrawal transactions during the Holy Week.

Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) also said that they are ready for the large volume of withdrawals for the coming Holy Week.

"We have ATM teams on call to respond quickly to the cash needs of our customers over the four-day holiday. We expect heavy withdrawals during this time so we encourage our clients to plan their cash transactions early enough to avoid the rush," BPI said in a statement.

All BPI and BPI Family branches and BPI Express branches in malls will be closed from Maundy Thursday (March 28) to Easter Sunday (March 31).

Do's and Don'ts during withdrawal at ATM:
1.Check the ATM area before using it. If anything or anyone appears suspicious, leave at once.
2.Do not use an ATM that appears to have tampered card or cash slots.
3.Protect your ATM card as if it were cash. Report lost or stolen cards immediately.
4.Don’t give your ATM card and PIN to anyone or write your PIN in your card.
5.If you withdraw in the evening, do use an ATM in a well-lighted place.
6.Never accept any help from a stranger or "good samaritan."
7.Get your card, cash and receipt at once. Do not count your money at the ATM in front of other people.
8.Call your bank if you need assistance.
