'Bagyong Auring', Ph first Cyclone for 2013 January 3-4 update

Philippines first tropical cyclone for 2013, 'Auring'  has intensified into a Tropical Storm while crossing Sulu Sea as it moves closer to Palawan based on data released by PAGASA 11:00 PM today, January 3, 2013. PAGASA forecast that on Friday evening, January 4, 'Auring' will be 660 km Southwest of Puerto Princesa City or outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

Location of center is 110 km South of Puerto Princesa City (8.7°N, 118.8°E ). It has maximum winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph.
In a statement issued 10:00pm, PAGASA said that thunderstorm is less likely to develop in Metro Manila within 12hours. However, all are still advised to continue monitoring updates.

"Scattered light to moderate rains over portions of #Quezon which may prevail for the next 1-3 hours. Persistent moderate to heavy to at times intense rains over the province of #Palawan.", PAGASA tweeted.

At 7:00 PM today, 03 January 2013, the center of Tropical Depression "AURING" was estimated based on satellite and surface data at 150 km Southeast of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan (9.1°N, 120.0°E).
On 4pm bulletin this afternoon, signal no. 1 (45-60kph winds) was issued for Palawan.

Residents living in low lying and mountainous areas under public storm warning signal #1 are alerted against possible flash floods and landslides. Estimated rainfall amount is from 5 - 15 mm per hour (moderate - heavy) within the 250 km diameter of the Tropical Depression.

Fishing boats and other small seacrafts are advised not to venture out into the eastern seaboards of the country and over the northern and western seaboards of Northern Luzon due to the Northeast Monsoon and over the western seaboard of Visayas and Mindanao due to the Tropical Depression.
Strong to gale force wind is expected to affect the seaboards of Northern Luzon and the eastern seaboard of Central and Southern Luzon and Eastern Visayas.

Fishing boats and other small sea crafts are advised not to venture out into the sea while larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves.

According to PAGASA weather forecaster Jori Loiz, weather bureau expects, at the most, one weather disturbance this January. However, they have spotted a cloud formation that may possibly become another LPA.
