Justin Bieber helps Hurricane Sandy survivors thru Twitter


Justin Bieber on Friday expressed his support for Hurricane Sandy survivors through micro-blogging site Twitter. Bieber encouraged those in good heart to donate at Red Cross via itunes.com website. As of this writing, Canadian singer's tweet has been retweeted nearly 17,000 times.

Apple has been partnered with American Red Cross to assist victims of Storm Sandy through purchasing iTunes application. User may purchase donation amount using credit or debit card.

There are six different suggested amounts for the iTunes purchase donation:  $5.00, $10.00, $25.00, $50.00, $100.00, and $200.00. The donation also will not qualify for any tax deductions or other tax benefits.

Apple said that once a donation is made, users will receive an email from the iTunes Store, which will serve as the only acknowledgement for the customer's donation.

Hurricane Sandy is considered the largest Atlantic hurricane on record formed on October 22, 2012 and dissipated October 31, 2012 with 181 fatalities recorded in the US. Affected areas includes Greater Antilles, Bahamas, most of the eastern United States (especially the coastal Mid-Atlantic States and New England), Bermuda and eastern Canada. Sandy has highest wind speed of 110 miles per hour.
